Indonesian police chief says that PNP Chief Bato is their inspiration in fighting illegal drugs

Even the other countries like Indonesia was amazed by the style of the Philippine National Police (PNP) leader in fighting illegal drugs and criminality.
Indonesian National Police Chief Tito Karnivian said that PNP Chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa is their inspiration in eliminating illegal drugs in their country.
Dela Rosa is in Indonesia today to receive the ‘Bintang Bhayangkara Utama (the ultimate protector of the state and the people) or Medal of Honor.
The award received by Bato is considered as the highest award given by the Indonesian President to a police officer.
During the conferment ceremony held at the Auditorium of the Police Academy in Jakarta, Karnivian said that Bato is very famous to the Indonesian National Police.
“To the very famous and popular General Bato: thank you for your rockstar-like inspiration to the Indonesian national police and the Indonesian people on how to fight the war on drugs,” Kardavian said in his speech.
He said that Bato is the first non-Indonesian police who received the award because of his contribution to the security of Indonesia and the Philippines in the past and for the future.
“This is the first time that the Indonesian government granted the highest award the state can give, the Medal of Honor, the Bintang Bhayangkara Utama to a non-Indonesian official,” Karnavian said.
Dela Rosa thanked Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Karnavian for the recognition.
“Thank you for this award and this will inspire me more to exert more effort in our drug war. According to general Tito, he would like to thank General Bato for the rockstar-like inspiration to the Indonesian Police and Indonesian people on how to fight the war on drugs,” he said in the video message sent to the reporters.
“…This is doubly significant for me because this is being given out to me or conferred to me during Valentine’s Day, so sa inyong lahat diyan sa Pilipinas, happy Valentine’s sa inyong lahat,” he added.

Aside from Philippines, human rights group also criticized Indonesia for expressing their support to the war against illegal drugs implemented by President Rodrigo Duterte.
Even the Indonesia National Narcotics Agency Budi Waseso said last year that they’re planning to imitate the style of the Philippines in fighting drug lords and pushers.
Waseso said that they’re ready to shoot the illegal drug sellers on the spot just to eliminate the narcotic problem in their country.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo also said in a speech that they would shoot the drug users on the spot if the law allowed it.
“If it [a shoot-on-sight policy] was allowed by law then I would order the National Police and the BNN [National Narcotics Agency] chief to do so, but luckily it is not,” President Jokowi said in a speech last year.
